    When students, staff and visitors need help finding the right place or person, we need someone reliable, welcoming, and ready to lead. As a Student Assistant Building Manager, you'll play a key role in keeping the building and its patrons safe and running smoothly while gaining a valuable experience.

    Job Summary

    A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

    Job Duties

    Please Note: This is an evening position: Monday - Thursday: 8am - 9pm ; Friday 8am - 5pm

    • Get familiar with each department in the Shocker Success Center. You should know their location and have an overview of each department's services.
    • No student or visitor leaves without being welcomed, asked how we can help, and we should be asking follow-up questions to ensure we are answering their questions.
    • You will be assigned to host tabling/recruitment events as needed (i.e., Black & Yellow Day & other Informational Events).
    • May be required to work weekends when necessary.
    • Be prepared to participate in team building exercises.
    • Be prepared to give tours of the building.
    • Be prepared to escort visitors/student to other departments in the building.
    • Walk the building, doing a check on each floor.
    • Make note of all things out of place or that need to be repaired and or replaced i.e., blown lights bulbs, tripping hazards, broken fixtures etc.
    • Make sure the building is clear and/or remind all personnel the building locks at 9:00pm.
    • Other duties assigned.

    Required Education

    High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

    Additional Requirements

    Must be available to work evenings Monday - Thursday.

    Additional Information

    SSC building hours:

    Monday - Wednesday 7am - 7pm

    Thursday 7am - 9pm

    Friday 7am - 5pm

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
