Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.
Job Summary
The Department of Natural Sciences seeks motivated and dependable Student Assistants to support activities associated with the National Science Foundation (NSF) HBCU-UP TIP BIOFORCE Grant.
Student Assistants will participate in faculty-mentored research activities at the interphase of biology, data science, bioinformatics, genomics, and related STEM areas.
This position provides students with research, analytical, technical, and professional development experience while supporting the goals of the Grant.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
Assist with research activities associated with the NSF HBCU-UP TIP BIOFORCE Grant.
Participate in biology, data science, bioinformatics, microbiology, genomics, and related research projects.
Assist with laboratory activities, data collection, data analysis, and research documentation.
Conduct literature searches and assist with reviewing scientific information.
Maintain accurate research records and project files.
Participate in research meetings, training, workshops, and project activities.
Assist with preparing research posters, presentations, and reports.
Follow laboratory safety and research guidelines.
Perform other duties related to the grant and project objectives as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Current ASU undergraduate STEM student in good academic standing.
Interest in biology, data science, bioinformatics, or related STEM research.
Basic computer skills.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Dependable, professional, and detail-oriented.
