Description
The Student Worker for Education & Museum Programs supports the Education Department and the National Churchill Museum by developing engaging educational activities for K-12 students, assisting with school visits, and serving as a museum tour guide. This position provides hands-on experience in museum education, curriculum development, public speaking, and educational programming while helping create meaningful learning experiences for visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Education Department faculty and the Museum Director to develop engaging, age-appropriate educational activities for K-12 students.
- Design interactive learning experiences that connect museum exhibits to Missouri Learning Standards and best practices in teaching and learning.
- Assist in planning and implementing educational programs for school groups and community visitors.
- Lead guided tours of the National Churchill Museum for K-12 students, college groups, and community visitors.
- Facilitate hands-on learning stations, educational games, and inquiry-based activities that encourage student engagement.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain instructional materials and activity supplies.
- Assist with special events hosted by the Museum and Education Department.
- Help evaluate educational activities by gathering participant feedback and making recommendations for improvement.
- Support outreach efforts by assisting with educational resources, promotional materials, and program preparation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Museum Director or Education Department faculty.

Requirements
Requirements:
- Strong interest in education, history, museums, public history, or related fields.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- Comfortable presenting information to groups of children, educators, and adult visitors.
- Creative, organized, and dependable.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Professional demeanor with a positive and welcoming attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent Westminster College and the National Churchill Museum professionally
Preference may be given to students who:
- Education majors or minors.
- Have experience working with children or youth.
- Have experience in tutoring, camp counseling, mentoring, or classroom settings.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and customer relationship skills.
- Have an interest in history, museum studies, or public education.
