Summary:
Repairs and overhauls structures for P8 aircraft including metallic and composite components.
Reads and interprets engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and process data sheets.
Performs close tolerance drilling within .001 and precision measurement within .0005 on metallic and composite structures.
Performs structural repairs and modifications on strike fighters, commercial derivative aircraft, and flight control components.
Installs rivets, blind fasteners, hi-loks, and other fasteners in metallic and composite structures.
Applies aircraft finishes including primer, paint, Alodine, and sealants.
Performs safety wiring and installs cotter pins.
Removes and reinstalls access panels and fairings, and removes damaged screws without damaging surrounding structure.
Uses measuring tools including micrometers, dial calipers, grip gauges, feeler gauges, depth gauges, trimics, and bore gauges.
Fabricates, locates, trims, drills or reams, and assembles metallic and composite components using Assembly Jigs and Repair Equipment.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
3+ years of Aircraft Mechanic experience in commercial or defense, or relevant trade apprenticeship.
3+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
Ability to close tolerance drill within .003 and precision measure within .003.
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of common fastener sizes and correct cutting tools for removal and installation processes.
Ability to remove and reinstall access panels and fairings and remove damaged screws without damaging surrounding structure.
Ability to apply aircraft finishes (primer, paint, Alodine, sealants), safety wire, and install cotter pins.
Ability to utilize Assembly Jigs, Repair Equipment, and similar fixed tooling for component build.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform detailed tool inventories daily.
