Structured Cable Technician - Pipeline

Structured Cabling performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable. Drilling and Mounting Build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware).

Structured Cable Technician I
Technician I possess one (1) + years of experience in the structured cabling industry.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables.
• Run copper cabling
• Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method.
• Route cable through modular furniture
• Suspend and support cable correctly: Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.
• Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.
• Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables.
• Drilling and Mounting
  • Drill and securely mount devices

• Ladder Work
  • Safely work on ladders to install and maintain equipment at heights.
• Documentation
  • Read and follow blueprints set for installation.
• Safety Compliance:
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Structured Cable Technician II
Key Responsibilities:

• Structured Cable
  • Run, terminate, and test copper cables according to industry standards.
  • Dress and route cable into device locations.
  • Cable pathway installation (J-hooks, uni-strut, ladder rack).
  • Cable management (dressing, labeling).
  • Cable Termination RJ-45/Modular Plug.
  • Patching work in preconfigured MDF cabinets.
  • install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to BICSI labeling standards).
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
  • Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
