Madden Marine is seeking a Structural Quality Assurance Inspector for our client in Portland, OR 97217. The successful candidate will bring sharp attention to detail and strong blueprint-reading skills to ensure structural fabrication work meets exacting quality standards.
Pay & Schedule
Pay: $28–$36/hr, DOE
Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM.
What You'll Do
Read and interpret structural welding and fabrication prints, blueprints, and technical drawings to support quality assurance reviews.
Retrieve corresponding technical drawings and prints from a Navy documentation database and match them against fabricator prints for accuracy.
Perform quality assurance checks by comparing fabricator prints to official specifications, identifying discrepancies in dimensions, materials, or welds.
Document and extract print and inspection data into Excel, maintaining organized, accurate records for tracking and reporting.
Flag inconsistencies between fabricator prints and database records, and communicate findings to welders, fabricators, or engineering staff for resolution.
Maintain accurate documentation to support quality assurance standards and audit readiness.
What You'll Bring
Must be a U.S. citizen, as required for access to government/Navy documentation.
Experience reading and interpreting structural blueprints, technical drawings, and other engineering prints, including welding symbols and structural fabrication terminology.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies in technical documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, organization, and reporting.
Quality assurance or quality control experience in a structural, welding, or fabrication environment preferred.
Ability to work independently and manage documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
Pre-employment drug screening and/or background check required.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic CAD experience.
Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols and standards.
Experience working with military or government technical documentation, such as MIL-SPEC drawings.

This role is primarily desk-based, reviewing prints, technical drawings, and database records, and entering data into Excel, with periodic time spent on the shop floor near welding and fabrication work to verify prints against in-progress structural work.
