Structural Marine Engineer

Our client is seeking an engineer to support the modeling, review, and analysis of structural systems and hull strength for large-scale marine and offshore projects. The engineer will evaluate structural integrity and stability and verify compliance with applicable Rules, Regulations, and contract requirements.

Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, this role offers exposure to a variety of engineering assignments ranging from routine analyses to more technically challenging projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering reviews and structural analyses in accordance with applicable Rules, Regulations, and contract requirements.
• Develop analysis models and engineering calculations using first-principles methods and computer-aided engineering tools.
• Perform stress, finite element, fatigue, and stability analyses as assigned.
• Develop finite element models using FEMAP and NASTRAN, along with stability software such as GHS, NAPA, or equivalent tools.
• Prepare accurate and timely calculations, technical reports, and engineering responses.
• Assist with resolving technical issues involving incomplete information, conflicting requirements, or time-sensitive deadlines.
• Communicate project status and coordinate with engineers and project teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Support technical assessments, inspections, and client service requests as needed.
• Maintain the quality, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of assigned work.
• Follow applicable quality management system requirements and procedures.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. M.S. preferred.
• 0–5 years of relevant engineering experience, including applicable coursework or research.
• Experience or exposure to structural engineering, marine, offshore, shipyard, engineering consulting, or related industries preferred.
• Proficiency with engineering software and computer-aided analysis tools.
• Experience with FEMAP, NASTRAN, ANSYS, HECSALV, or equivalent software preferred.
• Academic or practical exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet schedule requirements.

Preferred

• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer license.
• Experience supporting time-sensitive engineering assessments or client technical support activities.
