    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    TITLE: Structural Foreman

    REPORTS TO: Superintendent

    FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

    PAY RANGE: $36.00-$41.00 per hour DOE

    FT / PT STATUS: Full Time

    LOCATION: Shipyard(s) & Customer Facilities

    SUMMARY

    Oversees welding operations on designated projects, ensuring work meets industry standards and client expectations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in welding and cutting of products and structures
    • Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required
    • Requisitions supplies, such as weld rods, weld wire, gases, and fixtures
    • Inspects work to maintain specified standards and quality
    • Trains workers in operation of equipment
    • Set up machines and make trial welds
    • Supervise fitting and assembly of structural frames
    • Ensure that equipment is being properly handled, protected and maintained
    • Prepare records and reports about subordinates and tasks being carried out on the project
    • Work withi prescribed budgets and maintain job cost control
    • Review and submit timesheets for assigned crew
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

    • Directing various number of employees in a productive and safe manner
    • Training, planning, assigning and directing work
    • Conduct Performance evaluations, providing recommendations for promotion and salary adjustments
    • Handles or escalates disciplinary matters, including performance, conduct, attendance, and workplace concerns, in partnership with HR and in accordance with company policy.
    • Escalates and assists with employee relations matters and employment decisions, including terminations, in partnership with HR and in accordance with company policy.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES

    • Thorough understanding of SMAW and GMAW-flux core
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as opearating and procedure manuals
    • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
    • Knowledge of welding machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning work, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
    • Familiarity with the metric system
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate with team members for productivity and efficiency
    • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
    • Formal or informal on the job training
    • 1+ years supervisory experience
    • OSHA 10 Maritime Standards (Company may provide)

    WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
    • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting
    • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
    • Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
    • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
    • Some travel may be required
