Our client is a San Diego based structural engineering consultancy with a diverse portfolio across multiple sectors and client types. While they support a range of project work year round, water and wastewater facilities design is a current high priority need due to active project demand and a growing backlog in that market.The roleThis is a senior focused hire for a structural engineer who designs the structures that support water and wastewater facilities. This is not a process or systems design role. You will lead structural scopes from concept through construction support for projects such as treatment plants, pump stations, reservoirs, basins, pipe galleries, equipment supports, and associated buildings. The work leans heavily toward reinforced concrete, coordination with multi discipline teams, and practical design decisions that hold up in the field.What you will doOwn structural design for water and wastewater facilities, expansions, and upgradesProduce calculations, plans, details, and specifications ready for permitting and constructionCoordinate loads, interfaces, and constructability with civil, mechanical, electrical, and process teamsSupport construction with RFIs, submittals, site visits, and resolution of field issuesEvaluate existing structures when needed and write clear technical documentationProvide QA oversight, mentor junior engineers, and help drive consistent delivery standardsWhat we are looking for8+ years of structural engineering experience with direct water or wastewater facilities exposureStrong reinforced concrete background; liquid containing and below grade structures are a plusExperience taking projects from early design through IFC and construction supportComfort working with owners, reviewers, and multi discipline teamsFamiliarity with structural codes and standards used in California practicePE strongly preferred (California PE ideal, or ability to obtain)LocationSan Diego based role.
