Job Title: Structural Engineer (Senior-Level)Job Description
This Senior-level Structural Engineer role focuses on the design and execution of diverse commercial projects across the United States, including K-12 schools, corporate buildings, retail facilities, healthcare, higher education, government, and aviation projects. You will lead complex structural evaluations, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and provide technical leadership from concept through construction. This position offers the opportunity to deliver high-impact work within a leading AEC environment, ensuring that all structural designs meet rigorous standards of safety, functionality, code compliance, and innovation while actively engaging with clients and project partners.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced and diversified structural engineering principles and practices to complex assignments, exercising independent judgment in resolving engineering problems, selecting methods, and developing innovative design solutions.
- Serve as Lead Project Engineer when applicable, assuming responsibility for signed and sealed documents and work performed under your professional responsible charge in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Represent the firm in meetings and client interactions to resolve technical issues, define project scope, coordinate activities, communicate project progress, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct medium to large structural projects, or multiple smaller complex projects, with responsibility for scope, budget, schedule, quality control, risk identification, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Review and approve major structural materials and equipment, evaluate manufacturer qualifications, and oversee field construction activities to verify compliance with design intent and standards.
- Serve as a technical specialist, advisor, or consultant within your structural discipline, applying highly specialized knowledge and advanced techniques in steel and concrete design and other structural systems.
- Work with limited supervision, receiving guidance primarily on overall objectives, critical issues, policy matters, and unusual challenges, while independently managing day-to-day technical decisions.
- Lead, supervise, coordinate, mentor, and review the work of engineers and designers assigned to projects, fostering technical growth and consistent quality across deliverables.
- Define and organize project work into manageable tasks, delegate responsibilities appropriately, and communicate potential scope changes to project managers and supervisors in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional licensure and meet continuing education requirements, staying current with evolving codes, standards, and best practices in structural engineering.
- Participate in business development activities, including supporting proposals, developing technical approaches, and contributing to client relationship management.
- Support BIM coordination and construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and collaborating with contractors and field personnel.
- Travel as required to project sites and meetings, and maintain a valid driver"s license where applicable, except where waived for international assignments.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering that qualifies for professional licensure in the state of practice.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or active progress toward PE licensure, with a background that includes at least eight or more years of relevant structural engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and registrations.
- For candidates without PE registration, either five years of experience in a comparable Engineer 4 role or a minimum of eleven years of related professional structural engineering experience with previous employers.
- Demonstrated experience supporting commercial building projects in markets such as healthcare, education, government, higher education, retail, and aviation.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software, specifically RISA and RISA-3D, for the analysis and design of structural systems.
- Strong understanding of structural design for steel and concrete, including practical application of AISC and ACI standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and other relevant design criteria.
- Working knowledge of Revit and its application in structural design projects, including coordination within a BIM environment.
- Experience with BIM coordination and collaboration on multi-disciplinary design teams.
- Experience with construction administration, including review of submittals, RFIs, and field issues.
- Ability to serve as Engineer of Record on commercial building projects, where applicable.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, owners, and other stakeholders.
- Proven ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines, manage design reviews, and oversee change control processes on complex projects.
- Strong proficiency with tools such as Bluebeam for document review, markup, and coordination.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
