Job Description

Seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support Company's Transmission and Distribution Substation Design Group and Transmission Line Design Group. The engineer will be responsible for structural analysis, design, engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, foundations, and construction/field support for substation and transmission facilities.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of new and modified substation structures.
• Design and analyze structural steel, steel connections, reinforced concrete, and foundations.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design packages, drawings, specifications, and material takeoffs.
• Apply AISC, ASCE, ACI, AWS, and OSHA standards to structural designs.
• Perform wind, seismic, vibration, and other structural analyses as required.
• Support deep foundation design and analysis.
• Conduct site visits, construction inspections, walkdowns, and pre-/post-construction meetings.
• Provide engineering support to construction, project management, maintenance, field services, and other departments.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, drafters, vendors, manufacturers, and other stakeholders.
• Review structural designs and provide work direction/oversight to designers and drafters.
• Manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and deadlines.
• Mentor engineers and support knowledge transfer.
• Maintain a strong Safety First mindset in all engineering and field activities.
   

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
   

Required Experience & Skills

• 10+ years of structural engineering experience with significant structural steel and concrete design experience.
• Heavy industrial, power plant, utility, transmission, or similar industrial structural engineering experience.
• Strong experience with structural steel analysis and design.
• Significant steel connection design experience.
• Reinforced concrete and foundation design experience.
• Working knowledge of AISC, ASCE, ACI, AWS, and OSHA standards.
• Experience with STAAD Pro or comparable structural analysis software.
• Experience with structural engineering calculations and design drawings.
• Strong understanding of industrial structures and components.
• Ability to perform structural inspections and prepare written reports.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote/virtual environment.

Preferred Skills

• PE license or EIT certification.
• Experience with ANSYS and MathCAD.
• Experience with LPILE, AllPile, FAD Tools, or similar deep-foundation software.
• Experience with seismic, wind, and vibration analysis.
• Direct transmission-line structure or substation design experience.
• Experience supporting construction and field engineering activities.
• Previous experience mentoring engineers/designers.
