If you enjoy structural engineering, industrial environments, and the challenge of turning real-world constraints into practical designs, our client offers an opportunity to make a direct impact on projects from concept through installation.
We are looking for a Structural Engineer to lead our client's structural engineering efforts and deliver custom solutions for their customers. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving problems that don't always come with a standard answer.
You'll perform structural analysis and design for steel structures, equipment supports, connections, and foundations while working closely with designers, customers, equipment manufacturers, fabricators, and installers. You will also provide technical direction to the drafting and design team and help shape the tools, standards, and processes used by the engineering group.
Project Variety: Design equipment support structures, access platforms, conveyor structures, foundations, structural modifications, and equipment retrofits.
Engineering & Analysis: Develop structural models and calculations, determine appropriate design loads, design structural steel members and connections, and work with reinforced concrete foundations. Review drawings and coordinate structural designs with equipment and project requirements.
Field Work: Spend time in the field documenting existing conditions, taking measurements, evaluating structures, and developing practical solutions when existing conditions don't match drawings—or when drawings don't exist at all.
Leadership & Standards: Provide technical guidance to the drafting and design team and contribute to the continued development of engineering standards, calculation tools, software workflows, and design practices.
We are looking for an engineer who is comfortable:
Taking ownership of a design from concept to completion.
Working through incomplete or evolving project information.
Communicating effectively with both technical and nontechnical project partners.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
Professional experience in structural or civil engineering with a strong foundation in structural steel and concrete design and calculations.
Experience using structural analysis and design software.
Working knowledge of applicable structural design codes and standards.
The ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with designers, customers, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
The ability to perform field measurements and occasionally travel overnight.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with industrial facilities, bulk material handling, aggregates, brick, mining, or similar applications.
Experience with reinforced concrete foundations, existing structure modifications, steel fabrication, or construction coordination.
Familiarity with RISA structural analysis software, AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Advance Steel.
Take meaningful ownership of engineering projects and work directly with the people who design, supply, fabricate, install, and operate the systems you engineer. You will work across a variety of projects rather than being limited to one type of structure or one phase of the design process.
Benefits Include:
Vacation and paid holidays
Health, dental, and vision insurance
Short-term and long-term disability insurance
AD&D and life insurance
Additional voluntary insurance options
401(k) with a 3% company safe-harbor contribution
Discretionary profit sharing
