    Structural Engineer, PE Marine Structural Projects
    Houston, TX | LEI Grade IV/V Project Engineer/Project Lead
    Seeking a Structural Engineer (PE) to join our Houston office's ports and maritime engineering group, serving clients
    across the US, South America, and the Caribbean.

    This individual will design and lead small to large projects with a primary
    focus on waterfront structures, including piers, wharves, bulkheads, marinas, and vessel mooring and berthing structures.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber marine/waterfront structures.
    Lead or assist in developing design concepts, specifications, and cost estimates. Prepare and review design
    calculations.
    Design marine dock components (access trestles, loading platforms, pipe racks), accounting for multiple live load
    types. Perform general or specific marine design, including berthing analysis and fender selection and modeling,
    mooring analysis using applicable industry criteria and standards, etc. Apply soil-structure interaction principles to
    design marine pile-supported and earth-retaining structures.
    Lead or participate in inspection and rehabilitation of existing waterfront structures, including serving as team lead for
    field work and site inspections. Perform marine repair design, including demolition methods and retrofit of steel,
    concrete, and timber elements.
    Coordinate design drawings with fellow engineers and drafting technicians.
    Perform design checks as part of clients quality metrics and best practices.
    Provide and assist in construction phase services with construction contractors.
    Help resolve design problems through field investigation, detailed design work, or checking of others' computations.
    Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred). Bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering
    considered.
    Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferably in Texas, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
    Ability to work in the US for any employer. Ability to work on Federal projects and meet federal requirements.
    Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
    Strong technical report writing ability, including calculations, specifications, and structural condition/inspection
    reports.
    Availability and willingness to travel (occasional international travel may be required).
    This is a fully onsite role within LEI's engineering department (project teams typically ~4 people), with some flexibility
    around core work hours outside of travel periods.
    Active membership and involvement with ASCE or a related local chapter/society (e.g., COPRI, SEI, GEI) preferred.
    Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) preferred.
    Professional experience of +4 years in general structural or marine structural engineering in a team environment.

    Marine & Foundation Analysis Software: OPTIMOOR; Ensoft LPILE, APILE, GROUP, or SHAFT (pile design); CWALSHT,
    DeepEX (bulkhead/sheet pile analysis);
    Design Codes & Manuals: ACI 318, ACI 350 (Concrete Structures); AISC 360, AISC 341 (Structural Steel), ASCE 7 (Minimum
    Design Loads); ASCE MOP 101, ASCE MOP 130 (Inspections); PIANC guidelines, UFC guidelines, USACE manuals; NAVFAC
    and API design criteria as applicable to marine structures; OSHA and ASTM standards as applicable.
