Job Title: Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Structural Engineer who can independently execute projects, manage small teams, and serve as a primary point of contact for clients. This role is crucial in enhancing project execution and management capacity within our structural group. You will manage projects from design through delivery, coordinating internal engineering resources and maintaining direct client interactions across various sectors, including commercial, institutional, healthcare, entertainment, museums, tilt-up industrial, and mixed-use projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute structural projects from design through delivery.
  • Coordinate E1/E2 engineers and production staff.
  • Interface with clients, architects, and contractors.
  • Take ownership of project delivery, including coordination of design through internal engineers and production staff.
  • Support project scheduling and delivery.
  • Manage structural projects from proposal handoff through permitting, construction support, and delivery.
  • Coordinate architects, owners, contractors, E1/E2 engineers, and production staff.
  • Support DSA-focused project execution where applicable.
  • Lead small project teams and provide oversight to junior staff.
  • Participate in client meetings and maintain direct client relationships.
  • Review structural designs, calculations, RFIs, submittals, and project deliverables for quality and consistency.
  • Balance technical execution with project schedule and delivery responsibilities.

Essential Skills

  • Approximately 8-12 years of U.S. structural engineering experience.
  • PE license (SE preferred but not required).
  • Strong project execution background.
  • Experience in structural consulting within building-oriented engineering firms.
  • Experience managing scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Experience coordinating engineers, designers, and/or drafters.
  • Client-facing experience with architects, contractors, owners, or agencies.
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, SAP2000, or similar.
  • Ability to independently execute projects with limited supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • DSA experience or K-12 project exposure.
  • SE license.
  • Multi-material structural experience (steel, concrete, wood, masonry).
  • Healthcare project experience.
  • Structural consulting experience gained within California building-design firms.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting project teams.
  • A four-year degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment

The role is based in Newport Beach, CA, within a hybrid work environment (3 days in office / 2 from home). The work involves office-based design engineering as part of multi-discipline project teams. Our collaborative engineering office uses tools such as ETABS, RAM, and other structural analysis software.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $140000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
