Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their design team in a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Moon Township, PA. This position is ideal for a motivated Structural Engineering professional looking to expand their technical capabilities, take ownership of project work, and build a long-term career within a collaborative engineering environment.

As a Structural Engineer, you will be an integral member of the design team, assisting with structural analysis and design for a variety of projects. You will work closely with Structural Leads, Structural Engineers, Structural Designers, and other disciplines to develop design concepts, perform engineering analysis and design, and communicate structural requirements through construction documents and models.

The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in structural engineering fundamentals and an interest in gaining experience across multiple areas of structural design. You will have opportunities to take on increasing responsibility based on your capabilities, initiative, and interest in professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform conventional aspects of structural engineering analysis and design under general supervision.
• Assist with the development of structural design concepts, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Apply engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and criteria to assigned project work.
• Develop sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills while seeking guidance from senior engineers when appropriate.
• Develop knowledge and experience in lateral analysis and design, including wind and seismic considerations.
• Apply applicable provisions of U.S. building codes and industry standards to structural analysis and design.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel and concrete structures.
• Coordinate structural requirements with designers and other engineering disciplines.
• Review structural models and design documents for accuracy, completeness, and coordination.
• Perform calculation checking of work prepared by other engineers.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality control throughout assigned work.
• Take ownership of assigned portions of the structural scope and work to meet project schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Manage workload effectively, make and maintain commitments, and communicate progress or concerns to project leadership.
• Define the scope of assigned work and develop an understanding of the level of effort required to complete it.
• Identify potential scope changes and communicate them to the Structural Lead.
• Recognize when additional guidance or resources are needed and proactively seek assistance.
• Work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner while maintaining strong technical quality.
• Participate in field walks and site observations as required.
• Collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and other disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of structural engineering experience.
• Experience with U.S. building codes and standards, including:
  • International Building Code (IBC)
  • ASCE 7
  • ACI
  • AISC
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance from senior team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or a Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• Experience with structural engineering and design software such as:
  • STAAD
  • Navisworks
  • Bluebeam
• Experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
• Experience supporting semiconductor, industrial, manufacturing, or other complex industrial facilities.
• Experience coordinating structural designs with multidisciplinary project teams.
