Working under the general direction of the Project Coordinator (Principal Engineer) and/or the Division Director of Design, Engineering and Construction, you will serve as the county’s primary design representative—leading cross functional renewal projects, resolving construction issues, and ensuring project success from concept through completion. In this senior-level position, you will guide the development, design, and implementation of major structural and civil engineering projects. Working under the general direction of the Project Coordinator (Principal Engineer) and/or the Division Director of Design, Engineering and Construction, you will serve as the county’s primary design representative—leading cross functional renewal projects, resolving construction issues, and ensuring project success from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leads the planning, design, and management of large or complex capital projects in occupied spaces.
• Establishes project goals, performance standards, schedules, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for the department and multiple county agencies.
• Reviews plans, specifications, and engineering documents for structural and civil systems to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Performs and reviews engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings, and technical documents.
• Signs and seals engineering work as a licensed professional engineer.
• Ensures projects are completed on time, meets FMD and industry quality standards, and remains financially and operationally viable.
• Leads design projects, collaborates with diverse stakeholders, and solves complex engineering challenges.
