DPP is seeking a Structural Engineer 3 for an opportunity with our client in the Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing industry.
Work location: Onsite in Chandler, AZ
Work schedule: 9x80 A shift
Duration: 12 months
Terms: W2 contract
Work authorization: US Citizen; must be eligible to obtain and maintain a US Government secret security clearance
Responsibilities:
- Structural Engineer 3 will support the Mechanical and Energetics department.
- As a member of the M&E department, you’ll get to work alongside a dynamic team performing structural analysis on launch vehicles and ground support components.
- Analyze damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.
- Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis.
- Tools will include NX CAD software and FEA.
Basic qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years related engineering experience;
- OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 3 years related engineering experience;
- OR Ph.D. degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 1 year of experience
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a US Government Secret security clearance, or higher
- Strong structural analysis background with demonstrated work experience and knowledge
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
- Computer skills with standard word processing/spreadsheet experience
- Ability to listen effectively, take direction, and possess initiative to accomplish assigned tasks and complete work in a timely fashion
Preferred qualifications:- MS, or PhD in related field
- Active US Government Secret security clearance, or higher at the time of application
- Experience working with high-performance flight structures
- FEMAP, NX NASTRAN finite element analysis software
- ANSYS, ABAQUS, and other software package experience also considered
- Research and experience working with high temperatures, and effects in structural mechanics
- Thermal loading, advanced high temperature materials, structural responses, and development testing
- Working knowledge of CMC material systems
- Scripting and AI use in fields of engineering and data sciences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
