Ready to turn concepts into constructible documentation?
If you enjoy clear linework, precise standards, and collaborating with engineers and designers, this role puts you at the heart of pre-cast project delivery. You’ll support design and fabrication by preparing shop tickets and shop cards, and you’ll produce erection drawings for basic structures while working under the supervision of the Engineer Lead.
What will you do?
- Read and plot erection details and drawings for pre-cast structures.
- Meet with the Project Lead to confirm shop card detailing priorities and review erection drawings and details.
- Create shop cards using AutoCAD or similar CAD/modeling tools, ensuring compliance with standard detailing practices.
- Present scrubbed shop cards to the Project Lead for verification of correctness.
- Scrub red-lines from Project Lead check prints to keep documentation current.
- Detail Steel Cards from sketches or markups supplied by Project Designers or Design Engineers.
- Prepare erection drawings for basic structures with oversight from the Engineer Lead.
Do you bring these strengths?
- Proficiency with CAD software, particularly AutoCAD.
- Consistency with standard detailing conventions and an eye for accuracy.
- Clear communication across engineers, designers, and project leadership.
What’s required to succeed?
- Education: Associate’s Degree (2-year) in Design Drafting or related field preferred.
- Experience: Less than a year of prior or related experience required. An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Imagine this scenario
You’re handed a set of erection details. You meet with the Project Lead, align on priorities, and draft the required shop cards in AutoCAD. After a thorough scrub, you submit them for verification. Red-lines come back; you incorporate them into the check prints, then move on to detail Steel Cards from a designer’s markup. The team has what they need to fabricate with confidence.
