A bit about us:

A growing global manufacturer of engineered environmental and industrial equipment is seeking a Structural Designer for custom projects supporting industrial air and emissions-control systems. Using Autodesk Inventor, you’ll create 3D models, fabrication drawings, and material take-offs for equipment skids, structural steel supports, plate structures, and hot exhaust and flue-gas ducting.

You’ll detail skid frames and connections, including beam-to-column joints, base plates, and welded or bolted assemblies. You’ll also design duct casings and transitions and coordinate how they connect with adjacent equipment. Working closely with engineers and fabrication teams, you’ll take on increasingly complex designs for heavy industrial equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Create detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and material take-offs for heavy industrial equipment, structural supports, and ducting systems.
• Design and detail hot exhaust and flue-gas ducting components, including casings, transitions, and structural platework.
• Detail structural members and their connections, including beams, columns, braces, plates, and welded or bolted joints.
• Develop drawings for customer review, material procurement, and fabrication.
• Coordinate layouts and interfaces with equipment such as SCR reactors, baghouses, ESPs, dampers, and expansion joints.
• Incorporate requirements for mechanical loading, operating temperatures, and thermal expansion with guidance from engineers and senior designers.
• Review project specifications and design inputs, identifying missing information, conflicts, or discrepancies.
• Perform geometric and material calculations, including lengths, areas, volumes, weights, and angles.
• Revise models and drawings based on engineering reviews, customer comments, and fabrication feedback.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Sales, and fabrication teams throughout project execution.
• Maintain accurate drawings, revisions, and project files in accordance with document-control procedures.

What You’ll Bring

• An associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of industrial structural or mechanical design experience.
• Hands-on Autodesk Inventor experience creating 3D assemblies and fabrication-ready drawings.
• Experience designing or detailing heavy industrial equipment, structural steel frames, industrial ductwork, plate structures, or similar fabricated assemblies.
• An understanding of how typical structural members connect, including beam-to-column or beam-to-beam connections.
• The ability to accurately perform geometric and material-quantity calculations.

Preferred Experience

• Equipment skids, industrial support frames, or other heavy fabricated equipment.
• Hot exhaust, flue-gas, or other high-temperature industrial ducting systems.
• Pollution-control or industrial air-handling equipment such as SCRs, baghouses, or ESPs.
• Understanding of thermal expansion in large ducting or plate structures.
• Knowledge of industrial welding practices, bolted connections, and fabrication methods.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and coordinate designs with process requirements.

Travel: Minimal, estimated at no more than 5%.
