Structural Design Technician

Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
Location: Phoenix, AZ – Hybrid
Schedule: Minimum 2 days per week in office

We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Technician to support structural design efforts for advanced manufacturing and industrial facilities. This position will be responsible for developing detailed 2D and 3D structural models and construction documentation while coordinating with engineers, designers, and other disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have strong Revit experience, a background in structural steel and concrete design, and the ability to take ownership of assigned design packages. Experience supporting semiconductor or other advanced manufacturing facilities is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D structural models based on engineering direction, verbal instructions, sketches, and design concepts.

• Produce complete structural plans, details, and construction-ready documentation.

• Apply client, project, and department design standards consistently across models and drawings.

• Take ownership of assigned design scope while meeting project schedule and quality requirements.

• Review and verify models and documents for completeness, accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.

• Coordinate structural design activities with engineering and other project disciplines.

• Participate in interdisciplinary model reviews and resolve design and coordination conflicts.

• Support clash detection and clash resolution efforts.

• Assist team members with technical and project-related design needs.

• Utilize and continue developing design automation tools and emerging technologies.

• Lead small structural design packages and provide direction to other designers as needed.

• Coordinate task assignments, balance workloads, and monitor progress to maintain project schedules.

• Lead internal design reviews and participate in cross-discipline and external package reviews.

• Attend project and coordination meetings and assist in resolving design issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Design Technology, or equivalent.

• Minimum 5 years of structural drafting/design experience.

• Minimum 3 years of Revit experience.

• Strong knowledge of structural modeling and construction documentation.

• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality deliverables.

• Reliable home internet connection to support hybrid project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of structural drafting/design experience.

• 5+ years of Revit experience.

• Experience with SmartPlant and Tekla.

• Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam.

• Experience designing traditional structural steel and concrete structures.

• Experience supporting general industrial or advanced manufacturing facilities.

• Semiconductor facility design experience is highly preferred.

Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position based in Phoenix, AZ. Candidates will be expected to work in the office at least two days per week, with additional onsite requirements based on project needs.
