The Position

  • Upright Bass, a major plus
  • Private lessons
  • Small-group or ensemble instruction
  • Performance preparation

  • Additional instruments/programs

What You'll Do

String instructors are responsible for providing engaging, high-quality instruction while helping each student develop strong musical foundations and confidence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach weekly private and/or group woodwind lessons.
  • Prepare appropriately for each student's lesson.
  • Develop students' tone, technique, rhythm, music reading, musicianship, and performance skills.

  • Prepare students for studio performances and other musical opportunities.
  • Complete lesson notes and communicate clearly with families about student progress.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled teaching.

  • Encourage students to remain engaged in music through consistent progress and meaningful performance experiences.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines excellent musicianship with warmth, reliability, and professionalism.

Strong candidates:

  • Have significant experience playing at least one woodwind instrument.
  • Are comfortable teaching beginning through intermediate students; advanced teaching ability is a plus.
  • Enjoy working with children and teens.
  • Communicate clearly with students, families, and team members.
  • Are dependable and prepared.
  • Are willing to ask questions when they need clarification or support.
  • Are coachable and interested in continuing to grow as an educator.
  • Can create structure while still making lessons encouraging and engaging.
  • Understand that the student and family experience extends beyond what happens during the lesson itself.
  • Are comfortable participating in performances and studio events.

A bachelor's degree in music, music education, performance, or a related field is preferred but not required for candidates with strong musical and teaching experience.

What Professionalism Means at Chambers

Great teaching is only part of creating an exceptional student experience.

Our instructors are expected to be prepared, communicate clearly, and take ownership of their responsibilities. When something unexpected happens, we work together to solve the problem while maintaining a calm and professional experience for our students and families.

We believe the show must go on.

That means being resourceful, asking for help when needed, communicating early, and focusing on solutions rather than bringing behind-the-scenes challenges into the client experience.

Our Culture

Our team operates around our CHICS values and our commitment to Hustle with Heart.

We want team members who care deeply about students, take pride in their work, support one another, and are brave enough to ask questions, receive feedback, and keep learning.

We believe every student can grow.

We believe every teacher can grow, too.

Schedule

This is a part-time teaching position with the opportunity to grow as student enrollment increases.

Candidates should be able to commit to a consistent weekly teaching schedule. After-school, evening, and/or Saturday availability is especially valuable.

Why Teach at Chambers?

At Chambers, you're joining more than a collection of independent music teachers. You're joining a team building a structured music education experience designed to support students for years.

Teachers receive curriculum and operational support, professional development, mentorship, performance opportunities for their students, and the opportunity to grow within an expanding music education organization.
