Personal Trainer / Strength Coach | Murphy, TX
The Exercise Coach® – Murphy$18–$21/hour · Full-time or part-time
Help adults build strength and confidence, often for the first time in years. At The Exercise Coach in Murphy, many of our clients are in their late 40s through their 70s. Some have never strength trained. Others are getting back to exercise after a long break. They need a coach who puts them at ease, explains exercises clearly, and confidently leads each session. You’ll encourage clients through challenges and help them stay accountable to the goals they set.
You’ll be paid for every scheduled hour, including time between client sessions. We pay for required company certifications and train you in our coaching methods, equipment, and consultation process.
Shortly after initial training, you’ll be expected to run the studio independently for parts of a shift. You’ll keep sessions on track, handle routine client needs, and use sound judgment about when to reach out for support. There may be opportunities to advance into a Lead Coach or Assistant Manager role as those positions become available.
What you’ll do
- Lead one-on-one and small-group strength training sessions using our studio’s fitness technology.
- Get to know clients’ goals, explain exercises in plain language, and adapt your instruction to their experience and abilities.
- Track progress accurately and help clients see how their work in the studio is paying off.
- Lead introductory consultations, recommend a membership or session package when it fits, and ask prospective clients to get started. You’ll receive hands-on training from the studio owner, whose background is in sales and business development.
- Support your teammates by sharing relevant client updates, keeping the studio ready for sessions, and following through on commitments.
What we look for
- Warmth and confidence. You make new clients feel welcome, take the lead, and give clear direction without making them feel rushed or intimidated.
- Quick learning and attention to detail. You pick up new systems, apply feedback, and get the details right in equipment setup, exercise instruction, and client records.
- Reliability and sound judgment. You show up prepared and on time, communicate clearly in person and over the phone, and do what you say you’ll do. When you’re running the studio on your own, you take initiative and follow through.
- A team-first approach. You share what you learn, pitch in when a teammate needs help, and take responsibility for your part of the client experience.
- Interest in strength training. A foundation in strength training is preferred. We welcome applicants who are new to professional coaching and eager to learn. Experience working with older adults or people returning to exercise is a plus.
You’ll complete The Exercise Coach and Nutrition Playbook certifications and need a valid CPR/AED certification.
