Overview: The U.S. Army's Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) System is designed to optimize Soldier readiness and performance while reducing injury risk and improving physical and non-physical readiness across the Total Army. SRI is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Coach to serve as an integrated member of the Maneuver Center of Excellence H2F Implementation Team at Fort Eustis, Virginia. The SCC will use expertise in strength and conditioning, physical-performance programming, injury prevention, and human performance to train Brigade H2F Performance Teams and Army leaders on standardized H2F implementation, doctrine, lessons learned, and best practices.

The position requires approximately 25%-50% travel to H2F implementation sites throughout CONUS and occasional OCONUS locations.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary HIT and Brigade H2F Performance Teams to educate and train personnel on holistic Soldier readiness.
• Provide instruction regarding integration of physical training with Soldier health, Brigade missions, training calendars, and unit battle rhythms.
• Educate H2F teams on effective strength and conditioning practices and injury-prevention strategies.
• Participate in pre-implementation planning meetings with the HIT and Brigade representatives.
• Develop SCC-specific implementation plans based on unit assessments.
• Analyze unit information, training requirements, culture, history, and operational needs before site implementation.
• Create or modify H2F implementation content based on unit requirements, subject to Government approval.
• Attend implementation site visits and deliver standardized H2F implementation instruction.
• Assist Brigade H2F Performance Teams in integrating strength and conditioning activities into training and operational schedules.
• Participate in post-implementation meetings to reinforce H2F System standards and practices.
• Support virtual H2F implementation activities for Active Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve units.
• Participate in periodic HIT meetings and provide recommendations regarding physical training and Soldier/unit progression.
• Track questions, concerns, and feedback from Brigade H2F Performance Teams and unit leaders.
• Recommend H2F System improvements to the Government.
• Educate and train personnel on the development and execution of strength and conditioning programs in accordance with FM 7-22.
• Provide instruction regarding injury-prevention methods and strategies intended to reduce musculoskeletal injuries and improve recovery after physical activity.
• Provide recommendations to Brigade leadership and H2F Performance Teams regarding physical strength and conditioning and injury prevention.
• Teach approaches for establishing cohesive H2F Performance Teams and developing effective relationships with unit leadership.
• Develop and deliver classroom and field-based instruction and workshops.
• Develop course content supporting H2F implementation.
• Participate in Government-required training and continuing professional education.
• Maintain all required certifications and professional credentials.
• Operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and related Government information systems.
• Travel approximately 25%-50% of the time to CONUS and occasional OCONUS implementation sites, meetings, conferences, and training events.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Exercise Science, Health Science, Physical Education, or a related discipline.
• Current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association; or
• Current Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) credential from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
• NSCA Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) designation preferred.
• Minimum of five years of relevant Strength and Conditioning Coach experience working with individual athletes and groups of athletes at the NCAA collegiate, Olympic, and/or professional sports levels.
• Recent relevant experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in a military environment is preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross with Automated External Defibrillator certification.
• Web-based BLS classes do not satisfy the PWS requirement.
• Must be able to teach effectively in classroom and field-training environments.
• Must have experience developing course content of similar scope and complexity.
• Must have experience delivering well-facilitated and engaging instruction designed to achieve defined learning outcomes.
• Must demonstrate initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with Soldiers from diverse backgrounds.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and similar applications.
• Must be capable of properly lifting and manipulating loads or weights up to 45 pounds.
• Must be capable of training with Soldiers in varied weather conditions.
• Must be able to hike over rough terrain and function in austere environments while observing, training, educating, coaching, and mentoring Soldiers.
• Must maintain all required certifications and credentials throughout employment.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be willing and able to travel approximately 25%-50% of the time, including occasional OCONUS travel.

Security Clearance Requirements:

No classified security clearance is specified in the PWS. Personnel must be U.S. Citizens and meet Tier 1 background-investigation, installation-access, CAC, identity-verification, and applicable DoD system-access requirements.

Work Schedule:

Work is normally performed Monday through Friday, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but mission requirements may require duty between approximately 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Hours worked during any two-week period may not exceed 80 hours. Weekend travel may be required.
