Strategic Sourcing Specialist at TSI

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist supports sourcing, procurement, supplier management, and cost optimization activities for new product development, engineering projects, prototype materials, and assigned Material Release Process (MRO). This role partners closely with Category Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, and New Product Development teams to identify and evaluate suppliers, support RFQ activities, and ensure the timely delivery of materials required to meet project deadlines

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist assists with supplier selection, purchase order management, supplier documentation, inventory planning, and material release activities. This role also supports supplier negotiations, continuous improvement initiatives, and total cost of ownership strategies while helping ensure a smooth transition of materials into production.

What Will You Do?

To grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

  • Support supplier sourcing activities for prototype, released, and MRO materials, including supplier research, RFQ administration, supplier selection support, negotiations, onboarding documentation, and maintenance of sourcing agreements and records.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, communicate with suppliers regarding order status, monitor delivery commitments, expedite materials when required, and provide updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage purchasing, inventory planning, defective material processing, and engineering change order (ECO) activities for assigned commodities while utilizing SAP and related business systems to support daily operations.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support new product development initiatives, material release activities, phase and gate reviews, first article approvals, and material cost analysis.
  • Investigate and resolve supplier, invoice, receipt, and return material authorization (RMA) issues, identify root causes, and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support supplier qualification and risk management activities, including collection and maintenance of supplier documentation, financial reviews, surveys, risk assessments, and related compliance requirements.
  • Assist with supplier negotiations, contract review activities, and cost management initiatives aimed at reducing total cost of ownership while maintaining supplier performance and service levels.
  • Participate in Last Time Buy analysis and recommend process improvements that enhance sourcing, procurement, and supplier management effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Do You Need?

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in supplier management, sourcing, procurement, or a related supply chain function.
  • Experience using enterprise ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar platforms.

Desired:

  • ISM, APS, APICS, or other relevant supply chain or procurement certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of sourcing, procurement, supplier management, and inventory planning principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $78,000- $93,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
