Summary

Works under the supervision of the Assistant City Manager, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. This position will lead and coordinate a wide range of strategic projects and initiatives for the City Manager's Office, Mayor, and City Council, and works with key stakeholders on a regular basis. This position performs a broad range of duties in support of the City Administration and includes regular interaction with members of the City Council.

Essential Duties & Required Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists, supports, coordinates, develops, and implements new ideas, policies, programs, projects or initiatives by the City Manager's Office, Mayor and City Council.
  • Serves as a professional liaison from the City Manager's Office to assist in resolving reported issues.
  • Prepares, drafts, and edits speeches, communications, and talking points; proofreads and prepares informational materials as needed.
  • Provides ombudsman assistance to local businesses and entities developing in the City of Leander and coordinates with various departments.
  • Responds to and assists with inquiries from City Council members as well as those of City Administration.
  • Leads the implementation of key projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to resource allocations, and alignment with departmental objectives.
  • Monitors project issues, reviews plans, and strategies for future project planning requirements.
  • Works to identify areas of process improvement for the City of Leander.
  • Responds to constituents seeking information or assistance.
  • Coordinates with City departments on a wide variety of issues and develops collaborative relationships with them.
  • Conducts research, provides data as needed, and keeps abreast of items that may affect City operations.
  • Attends evening/weekend meetings, special events, and other activities as needed.
  • Attends City Council meetings, boards/commission and the meetings of other area governing bodies as needed.
  • Participates in various conferences at the regional, state, and national level as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university in Public or Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Four years or more of experience managing projects and initiatives for a local, state, or federal entity.

Required Certificates and Licenses

  • Valid Texas Class C Drivers License or equivalent from any U.S. State.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years or more of experience working for a local government in a similar role.
  • Experience working directly with City Administration and City Council.
  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university in Public or Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Public Policy, or a related field.
