Job Details

The Strategic Business Development Manager will lead strategic growth initiatives focused on expanding market share, developing new business opportunities, and building long-term partnerships across the HVAC industry.

This is a highly visible role for an experienced HVAC sales professional with a proven history of opening doors, developing strategic accounts, influencing key decision-makers, and generating sustainable revenue growth.

The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 10 years of HVAC sales experience and possesses strong relationships throughout the contractor, engineering, consulting, distribution, and building-owner communities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
Identify and penetrate new markets, customer segments, geographic territories, and strategic opportunities.
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and strategic accounts.
Create actionable plans to increase market share and strengthen competitive positioning.
Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and changing customer demands.
Business Development & Sales Leadership
Generate new business opportunities and convert prospects into long-term customers.
Develop strategic account plans for high-value customers and national accounts.
Lead sales presentations, negotiations, contract discussions, and executive-level business reviews.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop pricing strategies, proposals, and customized customer solutions.
Drive profitable growth across HVAC products, duct systems, ventilation solutions, sheet metal products, and related offerings.

Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with:

Mechanical Contractors
HVAC Distributors
Consulting Engineers
Design-Build Firms
Developers
Building Owners
Facility Managers
General Contractors
Develop strategic partnerships that create long-term revenue opportunities.
Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by providing industry expertise and solution-based recommendations.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
Analyze competitor activity, market trends, customer buying behavior, and emerging technologies.
Identify opportunities related to:
Building Automation
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
Energy Efficiency
Electrification
Decarbonization Initiatives
Smart Building Technologies
Provide market insights and growth recommendations to executive leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with engineering, operations, manufacturing, marketing, and leadership teams.
Help identify customer-driven product enhancements and new market opportunities.
Ensure strategic initiatives align with long-term profitability and business objectives.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years of successful HVAC sales, business development, or strategic account management experience.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork, sheet metal fabrication, air distribution systems, and commercial HVAC applications.
Proven track record of consistently exceeding revenue goals and driving profitable growth.
Experience selling into commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, education, manufacturing, or data center markets.
Established relationships within the HVAC contractor, engineering, and distribution channels.
Demonstrated ability to influence decision-makers at all organizational levels.
Strong negotiation, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
Ability to translate technical solutions into business value for customers.
Willingness to travel throughout assigned territories and key customer locations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience with large-scale commercial HVAC projects and specification-driven sales.

Air Handling Systems
Building Automation Systems (BAS)
VRF/VRV Technologies
Chillers
Energy Management Systems
Indoor Air Quality Solutions
Experience developing channel partnerships and distribution strategies.
CRM proficiency (Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent).
MBA or advanced business/technical degree preferred.
