    WE’RE HIRING: PROGRAM DIRECTOR — STOUGHTON’S BEST!

    Are you the kind of person who can lead a team, keep a program organized, connect with kids and families, and confidently take ownership when things get busy?

    Stoughton’s Best After School & Summer Camp is growing, and we’re looking for a strong, dependable Program Director to help lead our Stoughton location.

    This isn’t just a desk job.

    Our Director is actively involved in the day to day success of our program, supporting coaches, communicating with families, keeping our systems organized, maintaining licensing compliance, and making sure our kids are having an incredible experience.

    What You’ll Do

    As our Program Director, you’ll help take ownership of the daily operation of Stoughton’s Best, including:

    • Lead, support, and hold our coaching team accountable
    • Oversee daily after school and summer camp operations
    • Help create schedules and make sure the program is properly staffed
    • Maintain DCF licensing requirements, records, and documentation
    • Lead staff meetings, training, and ongoing development
    • Communicate professionally with parents and families
    • Support behavior management and help coaches navigate challenging situations
    • Oversee attendance, child supervision, safety procedures, and program routines
    • Help coordinate transportation and school pickups
    • Make sure our facility is clean, organized, safe, and ready for kids
    • Help plan special events, field trips, Parents Night Out events, and camp activities
    • Jump in and lead kids when the team needs support
    • Solve problems, make decisions, and take ownership instead of waiting for someone else to fix them

    Who We’re Looking For

    We need someone who is:

    • Confident leading adults AND kids
    • Organized and able to keep track of lots of moving pieces
    • Reliable and consistent
    • Positive, energetic, and comfortable jumping into the action
    • Able to give and receive feedback
    • Comfortable having difficult conversations when necessary
    • A strong communicator with parents and staff
    • Coachable and always willing to keep learning
    • Able to follow systems while also thinking independently
    • The kind of person who notices what needs to be done and does it

    DCF 252 Director Qualifications

    Because this is a licensed Wisconsin day camp program, applicants must meet DCF 252 Camp Director qualifications.

    Applicants must be at least 21 years old and meet at least ONE of the following:

    • Hold the Wisconsin Afterschool & Youth Development Credential

    OR

    • Hold a bachelor’s degree in outdoor education, recreation, coaching, juvenile justice, social work, psychology, child development, education, or another camp related field

    OR

    • Have 2 or more years of supervisory or administrative experience in an organized camp or children’s program

    Applicants must also be able to meet all applicable DCF background check, training, CPR/AED, pediatric first aid, and continuing education requirements.

    Schedule

    This position starts with part time hours, easily growable to full time for the right candidate. To begin with we are looking for 1pm-6:30pm Monday through Friday and 1-2 Saturdays per month for birthday parties or Parents Night Out events. 

    Additional Requirements

    Applicants must:

    • Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
    • Be able to pass all required child care background checks
    • Be comfortable working directly with school age children
    • Be comfortable using technology for scheduling, communication, documentation, and administrative responsibilities
    • Be dependable and able to consistently show up for the team and families who rely on us
