Position Overview

The Specialist, BOH Strategy role provides analytical, reporting, validation, and process support for BOH initiatives that affect merchandise movement from the back-of-house to the salesfloor and the ongoing maintenance of that merchandise. This role supports key store-execution processes including BPOD freight receiving and processing, Item Disposition, Markdowns, Bplanner+, Tasks validations, and other BOH routines. The Specialist reviews submissions, validates execution, identifies trends and outliers, and delivers actionable insight that helps Field Leaders and store teams close gaps in operational execution. The Specialist also leads freight management and supply chain coordination by helping ensure delivery adjustments and labor funding credit requests exceptions are reviewed, documented, and communicated accurately. In addition, this role supports Product Operations and fixture-inventory data management, including fixture database maintenance, replenishment order tracking, and issue resolution with vendors and internal partners.

A Day In The Life

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Store Execution Validation and Reporting: Own review and validation reporting for store-execution tasks, including Bplanner+, new process implementation, and related BOH routines. Review submissions for accuracy and completeness, flag exceptions, and provide recurring insight to Field Leaders and corporate partners. Identify chronic non-compliance patterns and escalate them with supporting evidence and recommended follow-up. Recommend refinements to validation criteria as processes and operating standards evolve.

  • Freight Management and Exception Support: Support the connection between Supply Chain, Outbound, Store Operations, Field Leadership, and stores. Help ensure weekly schedules, ad hoc delivery adjustments, delivery profiles, and relevant freight communications are accurate and clearly shared. Lead the exception management process related to store deliveries and carton scanning issues, reviewing store submissions and actioning as appropriate.

  • BOH Process Subject Matter Expertise: Develop subject matter expertise in BPOD, freight receiving and processing, Item Disposition, Markdowns, and other merchandise handling processes. Field store and leadership questions, troubleshoot process issues, and create clear avenues for capturing and resolving feedback. Support the drafting and maintenance of SOPs, training materials, communications, and continuous education content. Use store feedback and data to recommend refinements that improve productivity, execution, and clarity.

  • Product Operations, Fixture Inventory, Analytics, and Test Support: Support Product Operations and fixture-inventory data management by maintaining accurate fixture databases, tracking replenishment orders, and coordinating issue resolution with vendors and internal partners. Collect, analyze, and report KPI data related to freight productivity, CPH, backlog, markdowns, item disposition, and other BOH measures. Assist leadership with test-and-learn measurement, data collection, pilot readouts, and ad hoc analysis. Apply standardized templates and automation to enabling proactive insights.

You''ll Come With

Education:

  • B.A. or equivalent in operations, management, finance or related quantitative field

Experience:

  • >5 years of experience in store operations

  • >3 years of experience in retail process development a plus

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, with the ability to efficiently create and format documents and develop fact-based presentations that support decision-making.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred, including the ability to manage large datasets using sorting, filtering, VLOOKUPs, and PivotTables, as well as build charts and create formulas using IF statements and conditional formatting.

  • Ability to drive change in stores at national scale retail

  • Experience in developing functional partnerships among diverse stakeholders

  • Proficiency in writing SOPs, training documents and communications

  • Track record of launching and driving adoption of process changes

  • Demonstrated problem solving, people management, and communication skills

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of retail store operations, BOH processes, freight processing, and merchandise handling.

  • Strong reporting and analytical skills with ability to identify trends, outliers, and execution gaps.

  • Attention to detail and ability to validate submissions, data, photos, audits, and exception requests accurately.

  • Ability to draft clear SOPs, training materials, communications, and issue summaries.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with store, field, corporate, and vendor partners.

  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to troubleshoot ambiguous store execution issues.

  • Comfort learning systems, maintaining databases, tracking orders, and improving recurring processes.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while operating under the direction and coaching of leadership

Physical Requirements:

  • 25-50% travel

  • Commutable to Burlington HQ
