About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Store Manager to lead a team and drive the continued growth of a premium retail location in Seattle's University Village.
The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with excellent knowledge of the Seattle retail market. Previous experience working at University Village is a major plus.
This role requires someone who can bring consistency and stability to the team, develop strong talent, and create a positive and engaging store culture. There is strong opportunity to grow the store's sales and volume, so this person will need strong business acumen, an understanding of key retail metrics, and the ability to identify opportunities and turn them into results.
Strong clienteling experience is also essential. The Store Manager will lead the team in building meaningful customer relationships that create loyalty, repeat business, and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership - 35%

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, develop, and retain a strong store team.
  • Coach and develop team members through regular floor observations, real-time feedback, and consistent 1:1s.
  • Build a positive, stable, and high-performing team culture with clear expectations and accountability.
  • Train the team on service standards, selling skills, product knowledge, and store procedures.
  • Lead and develop the store leadership team, ensuring clear ownership of responsibilities.
  • Manage employee performance and employee relations in partnership with senior leadership and HR.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team engagement, development, and retention.

Customer Experience & Sales - 50%

  • Lead from the sales floor and model exceptional customer service and selling behaviors.
  • Build a strong clienteling culture, developing long-term customer relationships that drive loyalty and repeat business.
  • Drive sales, conversion, and key performance indicators through clear goals, daily coaching, and accountability.
  • Analyze store performance and identify opportunities to increase sales and overall store volume.
  • Maintain strong product knowledge and ensure the team can confidently communicate product features, quality, fit, and brand story.
  • Use knowledge of the Seattle market and local customer to identify opportunities to grow the business.
  • Plan and execute local events and activations that increase customer engagement, brand awareness, and sales.
  • Maintain high standards across visual merchandising, store presentation, cleanliness, and overall customer experience.

Operational Excellence - 15%

  • Develop and execute weekly, monthly, and annual plans to achieve sales and profitability goals.
  • Manage payroll, staffing, scheduling, and store expenses against business needs.
  • Oversee inventory, receiving, processing, damages, and stock accuracy.
  • Partner with Visual Merchandising and cross-functional teams to maintain store standards and optimize product performance.
  • Ensure strong communication, organization, and consistent execution of all store operations.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of progressive retail leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Seattle retail market.
  • Previous experience at University Village strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing retail teams.
  • Strong business acumen with a track record of driving sales and store growth.
  • Demonstrated experience with clienteling and relationship-based selling.
  • Experience managing retail KPIs, payroll, scheduling, and inventory.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead through change and create stability within a team.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Compensation

$35.00-$39.00 per hour, plus potential discretionary bonus/incentive and benefits.
