    Schedule/hours: M-S 10 AM - 6.30 PM (29 Hours per week)

    Job summary:

    • Acts as the lead worker for family store staff; assists in maintaining the store's orderliness and cleanliness; assists store customers with donating, selecting, and purchasing items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customer questions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Supervisory Responsibilities (25%)

    • Acts as the lead worker to family store staff; oversees volunteers as needed; trains and instructs employees and volunteers in the proper methods and procedures; informs supervisor of any staff issues requiring attention.

    • Customer Service Responsibilities (50%)

    • Assists customers purchasing items from the Salvation Army by ringing up sales utilizing a cash register; collects monies, counts change and prepares receipts; prepares and packages purchased items; prepares and balances the cash drawer and runs routine register printouts; prepares and delivers bank deposits. Ensures the security and accountability of all cash registers

    • Store Orderliness and Cleanliness Responsibility (25%)

    • Maintains the neatness and security of the cash registers area; ensures that forms, bags, etc. are adequately stocked; maintains warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables, and work area

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • Duties are usually performed standing; sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking, lifting and carrying, bending, reaching twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying light to heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred,

    AND

    • One year of prior customer service or retail experience preferred,

    OR

    • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

    Certifications:

    • Valid State Driver's License (preferred)
