    Position Description

    Job Title: Store Associate-Part-Time
    Department: Main Street Thrift, Gifts, and More Store
    Reports To: Community Development and ROMA Manager
    Supervises: N/A
    Pay Grade: $16.00 hour
    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
    Location: 131 South Main Street Albion, NY 14411
    Work Hours: Mon-Tues 10:00AM-4:00PM, Thur-Fri 10:30AM-5:30PM

    Status: Part-Time (hours vary)

    I. Purpose and Summary of Responsibilities

    The Store Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with sales, and maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of sales floor merchandise.

    II. Essential Responsibilities

    Retail Sales Floor Duties:

    Maintain retail floor merchandise in clean and organized condition.

    Stay updated on store sales, promotions, and operational procedures.

    Keep retail floor displays clean, neat, and in good condition.

    Provide exceptional customer service at all times.

    Prioritize safety for both staff and customers.

    Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately.

    Open and close the store following established procedures.

    Demonstrate and maintain professional behavior, conversation, appearance, and work ethics.

    Follow all store and Community Action policies and protocols.

    Handle incoming donations per established procedures.

    Maintain confidentiality in accordance with agency policies.

    Learn and remain knowledgeable about Community Action services.

    Additional Duties:

    Perform general store cleaning as needed.

    Process merchandise and clothing donations as instructed.

    Complete other duties as assigned.

    III. Marginal Responsibilities

    Participate in trainings and meetings as directed by the Director.

    Collaborate with other programs and staff within Community Action.

    Serve as backup for other staff when needed.

    IV. Relationships

    A. Internal

    Interactions: Community Action staff, customers, phone, and email communications.

    Supervision Received:

    B. External

    Promote awareness of Community Action of Orleans & Genesee, Inc. and its programs and services to the community.

    V. Work Environment

    Fast-paced and flexible retail environment.

    Work involves frequent interaction with a variety of people and changing priorities.

    Moderate background noise from phones, washer/dryer, customers, and office equipment.

    Noise from Main Street traffic is frequent due to store location.

    Must be able to concentrate in an environment with constant activity and successfully multi-task. This is both a retail business and a training facility for developing hard and soft employment skills. Professional behavior and work ethics are required at all times.

    VII. Qualifications

    Preferred (not mandatory):

    Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and insurance coverage as per agency policies.

    Access to a personal vehicle.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    Self-directed, responsible, organized, and able to multi-task.

    Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Ability to effectively communicate via phone.

    Ability to work well as part of a team under supervision and follow directives.

    Commitment to professional work ethics and a positive, stable work environment.

    Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to remain calm under stress.

    Retail experience is a plus.
