Music Director - Spring 2027 Musical
Compensation: according to the teacher stipend scale.
Faculty will be given preference for filling Lincoln Educators Association (LEA) stipends. If a stipend position is not filled by a faculty LEA member, other unit employees are encouraged to apply and be considered.
Level of training, professional experience required to perform this role: high, professional.
Responsibilities:
- Attend pre-audition meeting, answer questions, teach the audition song
- Attend auditions and callbacks, and work with the director to cast the show
- Conduct during rehearsals and performances
- Teach all music to the cast members, including multiple voice parts
- Teach vocal/singing technique
- Prepare for rehearsals (learn accompaniment, and all singing parts, prepare for conducting)
- Provide materials for students for home practice, including making and recording videos of vocal tracks for individual parts
- Provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals
- Work with the director during large cast rehearsals, focused primarily on music, but also supporting all aspects of performance
- Ready to step in if anything happened to the director (illness, absence)
- Work with sound crew students and actors on microphone placement and use
- Conduct sound checks prior to technical rehearsals and performances
- Work with sound crew and stage manager for timing of all recorded sound cues and accompaniment tracks
Hours:
- 3 rehearsals most weeks. Rehearsal duration 2 hours, 3 hours on Wednesdays.
- Longer and more frequent rehearsals in final two weeks
- One weekend rehearsal (6 hours including prep)
