Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to support its surgical services department. The selected candidate will be responsible for cleaning, inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment while maintaining high standards of infection prevention and patient safety.

• Decontaminate and disinfect surgical instruments, scopes, and specialty equipment.

• Inspect, assemble, and prepare surgical instrument trays.

• Prepare and organize case carts for surgical procedures.

• Perform steam and Sterrad sterilization.

• Conduct biological and chemical indicator testing.

• Perform high-level disinfection and flexible endoscope reprocessing.

• Process robotic instruments, including Da Vinci Xi systems.

• Maintain accurate instrument tracking and documentation using CensiTrac.

• Ensure proper sterile storage and timely distribution of instruments.

• Coordinate with Operating Rooms and Central Sterile Services departments.

• Float between assigned OSU locations as needed.
