    Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
    No of Positions or candidates required: 6
    Specialty: Sterile Processing / Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) Reprocessing - decontamination, prep/packaging & sterilization, high-level disinfection (HLD), and case cart/sterile storage
    Place of Work (City/State): Oklahoma City, OK
    Site: Oklahoma City VA Medical Center (OKC VAMC)
    Location: 921 NE 13th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73104
    Duration: 1-year contract with the possibility of 4 one-year extension
    Shift Schedule:
    • Night: 11:30 PM 8:00 AM
    • Day: 8:00 AM 3:30 PM (currently unstaffed; may be added later)
    • Evening: 3:30 PM 12:00 AM (2 contract SPS staff)
    • Rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call may be required; federal holidays observed.
    Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks
    Certifications: HSPA or CBSPD certification required
    Education: High school diploma or equivalent
    Experience needed: Minimum 2 years of recent Sterile Processing Technician experience (or equivalent combination of education + 2 years relevant SPS experience)
    Special Skills needed:
    • Knowledge of aseptic principles, detergents, cleaning techniques, and sterilization methods
    • Knowledge of surgical instrument use, assembly/disassembly, cleaning, sterilizing, and storage
    • Flexible endoscope reprocessing and AER operation
    • Ability to interpret written policies, IFUs, and technical/regulatory materials
    • Effective communication in English (written and verbal)
    Responsibilities:
    • Decontamination: transport, disassemble, manually/mechanically clean, disinfect RME; operate washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, AER units
    • Preparation/Packaging & Sterilization: inspect, assemble instrument/dental trays per count sheets, select sterilization method (steam, low-temp, Sterrad, AER, manual HLD), operate/troubleshoot sterilizers, perform QA testing
    • High-Level Disinfection: transport, inspect, reprocess, and store HLD items; maintain chemical levels
    • Case Carts/Sterile Storage: prepare case carts per OR pull sheets, maintain and rotate sterile storage inventory
    • Document all QA/QC checks per VHA Directive 1116, Joint Commission, AAMI, and HSPA/CBSPD standards
