Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician II is a competent and experienced member of the sterile processing team. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, equipment, and medical supplies in accordance with established policies, procedures, and industry standards. The position demonstrates strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization methods, supports training of new staff, and assists with workflow and quality improvements to ensure safe, high-quality products for patient care.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Current certification in Sterile Processing Technology (CRCST or equivalent) required.
Experience Requirement:
One year of MWHC sterile processing experience OR two years of external SPD I‑level experience.
Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician training program preferred.
Demonstrated competence in sterile processing practices, including instrument identification and advanced set assembly.
Demonstrated ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Basic computer skills required; experience with instrument tracking systems preferred.
Ability to operate automated and technical equipment used in sterile processing.

Physical Requirements: Constant (67-100% of workday) use of arms and hands; frequent (34-66% of workday) standing, walking, and sitting; occasional (0-33% of workday) bending, stooping, and squatting; ability to lift 35 lbs.; ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs.; auditory and visual skills to include color determination.
