Job Responsibilities

Individuals in this role are tasked with the decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to departmental and infection control policies.

Core Responsibilities and Duties

  • Information Management: Locate, utilize, and provide essential patient care-related information, demonstrating an understanding of potential clinical implications. Exercise judgment that impacts patient care delivery through process and experience. Adapt readily to changing priorities and work assignments.
  • Accurate and Efficient Work: Wash, disinfect, and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment following policy guidelines. Sort, reassemble, wrap, and place instruments in suitable containers according to instrument cards and sterilization instructions. Update sets and methods of sterilization. Inspect instruments for integrity, functionality, and cleanliness before assembly. Maintain accurate instrument sterilization documentation. Handle instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure their sterility and integrity. Optimize processes, materials, and time management. Estimate supply usage and request orders as needed. Maintain a tidy and organized decontamination and instrument assembly area.
  • Technology Competency: Demonstrate skill and proficiency with all equipment and instrumentation. Adapt to new learning requirements for the use of new technology.
  • Procedures and Policies: Adhere to all established policies, procedures, and safety initiatives. Protect and respect the confidentiality of personal health information.
  • Active Engagement: Ensure timely completion of individual and departmental responsibilities and projects. Participate in unit/department meetings and activities. Support and mentor the integration of new employees into the workgroup.

Schedule

Available shifts include Day and Evening:

  • Day: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Evening: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
