A nationally recognized regional referral center in Asheville is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Manager to lead evening operations within a high-volume Sterile Processing Department. This Magnet-designated hospital serves as the region's only Level II Trauma Center and provides tertiary and quaternary care across a broad range of specialty services.

Position Overview

The Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for overseeing daily departmental operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality sterile processing services that support surgical and procedural areas throughout the hospital. Leading a large team of Sterile Processing professionals and Team Leads, this role focuses on operational excellence, staff development, quality improvement, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Working closely with the Director of Sterile Processing, the manager plays a key role in maintaining compliance with industry standards, supporting employee growth, and ensuring efficient service to critical hospital departments including the Operating Room, CVOR, Endoscopy, Labor and Delivery, and Ambulatory Clinics.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily Sterile Processing Department operations.
• Supervise and support a team of Sterile Processing professionals and Team Leads.
• Partner with department leadership on recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and staff development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with sterilization standards, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain and enhance quality assurance and quality control programs.
• Coordinate workflow and resources to support procedural and surgical service lines.
• Monitor departmental performance and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
• Serve as a resource for staff education, training, and competency development.
• Foster strong working relationships with surgical, procedural, and clinical departments throughout the organization.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Two-Year Surgical Technology Course, CRCST, or CSPDT certification required.
• Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• CSPDT/IAHCSMM certification required.
• Minimum of 3 years of Sterile Processing experience required.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience required.
• Strong knowledge of operating room instrumentation and equipment.
• Thorough understanding of aseptic technique and infection control principles.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Schedule

• Full-time
• Evening shift
• Generally 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Hours may vary based on operational needs and meetings
