Steelmaking Mechanical Systems Specialist (Millwright Focus)

Where you’ll work

A reputable and growing operation in Apple Grove, WV is adding an experienced mechanical professional to the team.

Role at a glance

• Own the Segment Mold Shop and ensure assemblies meet spec.
• Verify alignments, bearings, rollers; perform QC inspections.
• Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, and assemble hydraulic equipment.
• Lubricate equipment; perform welding repairs as required.
• Set precise press/sliding/running fits for gears, bearings, shafts.
• Use machine tools such as drill presses, pipe-threaders, power saws, etc.
• Repair cranes and mobile equipment.
• Layout, install, maintain, and repair pipelines, fittings, fixtures, and pressure systems; fix hydraulic leaks.
• Swap and restore components like cylinders, oil motors, four-way valves, and check valves.
• Perform changeovers, setups, and adjustments to meet operating needs.
• Use required computer systems for planning, execution, and reporting.
• Leverage mechanical/electronic diagnostics, computer tools, and precision instruments to validate performance.
• Handle additional tasks as assigned.

• Follow direction from a designated Lead.
• The Lead manages paperwork and record keeping.

Must-haves

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical training.
• Fluent in English.
• 5+ years in steelmaking with arc furnace, casting, or rolling maintenance exposure.
• Solid knowledge of mechanical equipment; able to interpret hydraulic/mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
• Skilled with tools and precision measurement (micrometers, calipers).
• Preferred: Certifications for forklift, overhead cranes, man-lifts/scissor lifts, and other mobile equipment.

Location, schedule, and pay

• Apple Grove, WV
• $25–$35/hour, based on experience
• 50+ hours/week | 10-hour shifts | Day & Night shifts available

Assignment details

• Approximately 3-month assignment
• Possible Temp-to-Hire
• Possible temporary assignment through approximately January
