    Job Summary

    The Standardized Patient (SP) Educator develops and implements unique educational and training activities for the SP Program. They also administer the program''s policies and procedures.

    Essential Functions of the Role

    • Supervises the SP, including training and instruction. Evaluates performance and professionalism. Interviews potential applicants. Plans and assigns case material and activities.
    • Identifies suitable candidates for SP activities. Develops orientation materials for recruitment and inauguration into the SP. Orientates candidates with an initial overview of program activities and responsibilities. Conducts basic skills training for Educators.
    • Maintains advanced knowledge and skills in medical information, scenarios, and physical exams for training and education. Develops unique SP educational strategies and tools for SP methodology used in the Program with advanced education and research values.
    • Participates in mentoring activities and classes provided by the Organization that supports the SP Educator role.
    • Anticipates the needs of the SP. Works with the SP Program Director to ensure effective use of the SP and available funding.
    • Participates in preparing program reports, funding proposals, and scholarship material. Develops a comprehensive report on SP education and training activities. Reports problematic issues and concerns to the Program Director.
    • Collaborates with the Program Director, faculty, and staff on case development. Evaluates and develops case scenarios, scripts, and evaluation procedures for SP education and training.
    • Prepares and presents budget updates based on SP program activities to the Program Director.
    • Helps develop invoices appropriate for educational affiliate events.
    • Records Standardized Patient hours training.
    • Serves as a liaison to the local college and SP Pavilion. Acts as a liaison to the Simulation Center during activities with SP Educators representing the SP.

    Key Success Factors

    • Master''s degree preferred.
    • Experience as an educator, instructor, or teacher preferred.
    • Experience training or developing learners in an educational environment preferred.
    • Standardized Patient (SP) Educator experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of medical education terminology, curriculum, skills, and practices pertinent to SP education.
    • Knowledge of relevant trends and innovations in SP Education.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships across organizational lines.
    • Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.
