Job Title: Paint & Stain Mixing Specialist (Stainer)

Pay: $19–$22/hour DOE (flexible for strong candidates)
Schedule: Full-time


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Paint & Stain Mixing Specialist to support our paint department operations. This role is critical to ensuring accurate color matching, consistent product quality, and efficient production flow.

The ideal candidate has experience with stain mixing and finishing processes, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Important Requirements

  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator
  • Must be clean-shaven to meet safety and respirator fit requirements

Key Responsibilities

Production & Mixing

  • Review production schedules with the manager to determine required stains and models
  • Mix stains, tinted sealers, and lacquers in alignment with weekly production needs
  • Maintain a one-week-ahead mixing schedule to avoid delays
  • Prepare test batches for new, custom, or complex color matches
  • Label and organize all materials accurately for proper identification and use
  • Distribute mixed products to spray booths according to production requirements

Quality Control & Troubleshooting

  • Verify color accuracy by matching initial pieces to approved samples or paint chips
  • Adjust formulas, density, and application methods to ensure proper color matching
  • Identify and resolve finish inconsistencies or defects
  • Ensure consistency across all items within the same customer order

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels of stains, sealers, and related materials
  • Coordinate with purchasing to prevent shortages
  • Plan material usage based on current and upcoming production schedules

Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on paint shop equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly
  • Maintain spray guns, hoses, booths, and ventilation systems

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with stain mixing and color matching required
  • Strong knowledge of coatings, finishes, and application techniques
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read production schedules and follow work instructions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards
