Within the UCLA Brain Tumor Imaging Laboratory (BTIL) in the Department of Radiological Sciences, the Research Associate plays a key role in advancing preclinical imaging research focused on brain tumor biology. This position supports the lab's scientific mission by performing molecular biology experiments, maintaining cell cultures, and conducting mouse xenograft studies. The role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to innovative cancer research in a dynamic, collaborative laboratory environment.

Salary: $31.21 - $50.21 hourly

Job Qualifications

Required:

BA/BS and/or equivalent combination of education and experience/training.

1 year of demonstrated knowledge of basic genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles.

1 year of familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, incubators, biosafety cabinet hoods, PCR machines and electrophoresis apparatus.

Strong interpersonal skills for interaction to communicate diplomatically and effectively with faculty, patients, physicians, collaborators, researchers, and other University staff.

Ability to learn new methods and protocols and to adapt these to current laboratory situations

Experience with working with mice, including survival surgeries (e.g. intracranial implantation) and drug administration (intraperitoneal, intravenous, and oral gavage)

Preferred:

Strong molecular biology skill-set, including experience with cell culture, PCR, RT-PCR, Western blot, and cloning.
