Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Director and Manager of Imaging Services, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care during radiological services of a highly specialized nature. to patients in accordance with physicians' orders. The Registered Nurse provides for patient safety and high quality testing. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact with patient, physicians, visitors, and other staff members. Rapidly changing work demands require an ability to handle high stress environments. 

  • Use therapeutic communication in daily practice
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual patients
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process 
  • Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care
  • Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver
  • Participate in Diagnostic Imaging specific initiatives and process improvement
  • Promote a supportive Diagnostic Imaging environment
  • Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistant, vocational nurses, nurse technicians, student nurses and/or nurse externs
  • Maintain high quality (age specific) care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as assigned

    What qualifications you will need:

    • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
    •  Previous clinical nursing experience in Radiology, ICU or ED is desired
    • Experience with radiation safety required
    • Experience with infant to adult radiology patients, preferred
