    Location: Phoenix, AZ / Albuquerque, NM / Kansas City, MO
    Job Type: Long-Term Contract
     

    Position Overview

    Our client is seeking a Staff Project Controls Specialist for a long-term contract opportunity supporting complex electrical transmission and distribution projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Primavera P6 scheduling and a strong understanding of electrical T&D projects, including transmission lines, substations, and distribution lines.

    The Staff Project Controls Specialist will lead project controls processes in collaboration with the internal project management team to support the successful execution of project deliverables within budget and schedule. This position requires an individual who is highly organized, proactive, analytical, and comfortable managing a large volume of project schedules simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead project controls processes with the project management team to support project execution within budget and schedule.
    • Develop, maintain, and manage multiple project schedules using Oracle Primavera P6.
    • Ensure project setup in Enterprise Planning & Controls software.
    • Analyze data, review logs, and run reports using Enterprise Planning & Controls software and other project controls tools.
    • Create and maintain project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
    • Develop, implement, and maintain effective scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts for multiple projects.
    • Support engineering, procurement, and construction planning, scheduling, logistics, and cost control activities.
    • Follow project execution plans and applicable project controls procedures.
    • Host and facilitate project scheduling and project controls meetings.
    • Seek out information from project stakeholders to update schedules and validate project progress.
    • Proactively identify and report schedule issues, risks, and potential impacts to project execution.
    • Serve as a point of contact for technical project controls and scheduling questions from the project team.
    • Approve Purchase Orders and/or Subcontracts for proper project coding, as applicable.
    • Input and document changes to cost reports and project forecasts.
    • Interface with Project Management and Accounting teams to review project costs and contingency costs and support external audits.
    • Review upstream prime contract and downstream purchase order and subcontract change orders.
    • Develop and present cash flow reports.
    • Develop various levels of project schedules.
    • Apply and review logic ties within project schedules.
    • Monitor schedule resource loading.
    • Support Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM).
    • Create schedule reports and determine the appropriate reporting format for project stakeholders.
    • Develop, review, and analyze pre-programmed project scheduling reports and supporting documentation for accuracy.
    • Consult with project teams regarding schedule progress and performance.
    • Analyze and evaluate schedule management using critical path method scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management, and forecasting.
    • Perform schedule what-if scenarios and schedule impact analyses.
    • Develop and maintain an earned value management system.
    • Input and validate project progress measurement data.
    • Develop and maintain progress curves.
    • Perform material takeoffs, as required.
    • Perform quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
    • Perform field audits to validate the accuracy of project reporting and processes.
    • Assist with project forensic analysis, as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and standards.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
    • At least 3 years of direct project controls experience.
    • Extensive experience developing and managing project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6.
    • Strong knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution projects, including:
      • Transmission lines
      • Electrical substations
      • Distribution lines
    • Experience managing a large volume of project schedules simultaneously.
    • Strong understanding of critical path method scheduling, schedule logic, resource loading, forecasting, and schedule analysis.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to host meetings and effectively communicate project schedule information.
    • Ability to work proactively, identify potential schedule impacts, and communicate issues to project stakeholders.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • OSHA 10-hour safety certification or the ability to obtain one.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting engineering, procurement, and construction projects.
    • Experience with Enterprise Planning & Controls software or similar project controls systems.
    • Experience with earned value management systems, progress measurement, cash flow forecasting, and progress curves.
    • Experience performing schedule impact analysis, what-if scenarios, and project forensic analysis.
    • Experience supporting large-scale electrical utility or infrastructure projects.

    • Albuquerque, NM
    • Phoenix, AZ
