Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Staff Professional to join our growing Construction Materials Testing team in our CMT/GEO Group. The Staff Professional – Construction Materials Testing (CMT) provides technical support for field and laboratory testing of construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates. This entry- to mid-level role involves observing construction activities, collecting samples, conducting standardized tests, and preparing documentation in compliance with applicable standards and project specifications. The position supports project managers and senior engineers in delivering quality assurance services to clients across public and private sectors.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or a related field.
    (Associate degree or equivalent experience may be acceptable with relevant certifications.)
  • 0–3 years of experience in construction materials testing or field inspection.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions and lift 40–50 lbs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field and laboratory tests on construction materials, including soil compaction, concrete strength, asphalt density, and aggregate gradation.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and approved construction documents.
  • Prepare accurate and timely field reports, test logs, and data summaries.
  • Maintain field and lab equipment in accordance with quality control protocols.
  • Assist in preparing daily field activity logs and communicating results to project managers.
  • Follow proper sampling and testing procedures per ASTM, AASHTO, and other applicable standards.
  • Interface with contractors and site personnel in a professional and responsive manner.
  • Support senior technical staff in analyzing test data and preparing reports.
  • Adhere to company and site safety procedures, report unsafe conditions.
  • Travel to job sites in company vehicles as required (typically within a regional area).
