Job Title: Staff Platform Engineer
Location: Plano, TX 75024 (Hybrid) – 1–2 days per week onsite (Candidate must be located within a 60-mile radius of a Bread Financial location. - No California candidates.
Duration: 
06-month contract (Temp-to-Hire.)
Start Date: Targeting Oct 2026
Pay Rate: $78.57/hr. on W2
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision.
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM as per time zone
 
Job Description:
  • We are seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to drive the strategy, architecture, and evolution of enterprise platform engineering capabilities that enable scalable, secure, and efficient software delivery. This role will lead platform products, shared services, intelligent automation, self-service capabilities, cloud-native engineering ecosystems, and AI-enabled engineering initiatives that improve developer productivity and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 8–10 years of experience in platform engineering, software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, automation engineering, or related technical disciplines.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and scaling enterprise platform capabilities, shared services, automation solutions, and developer productivity platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technical initiatives and influencing engineering strategy across multiple teams.
  • Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures, platform engineering, automation, DevOps, and modern software delivery practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading enterprise platform transformations, cloud modernization programs, developer experience initiatives, or AI-enabled engineering programs.
  • Experience defining technology strategy and influencing organization-wide engineering standards and roadmaps.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, DevOps, platform engineering, software development, automation, AI/ML, data engineering, or related technologies.
Required Certification:
Candidates must have at least one of the following certifications:
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
  • Google Cloud – Cloud Digital Leader

Responsibilities:
  • Define the strategic direction and roadmap for platform engineering capabilities.
  • Lead architecture and design of enterprise platforms, products, shared services, APIs, SDKs, frameworks, and self-service capabilities.
  • Establish platform standards, reference architectures, governance, and reusable engineering patterns.
  • Drive platform modernization and cloud-native adoption.
  • Define enterprise automation strategies supporting the AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AIDLC).
  • Lead development and adoption of intelligent automation platforms, AI-powered capabilities, AI agents, agentic workflows, and autonomous solutions.
  • Define standards and patterns for LLMs, agent orchestration, MCP, RAG, and enterprise AI platforms.
  • Drive developer experience and self-service engineering capabilities.
  • Lead CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Establish standards for IaC, deployment automation, monitoring, anomaly detection, and automated remediation.
  • Define platform-wide security, governance, compliance, risk management, and engineering controls.
  • Partner with engineering, architecture, security, product, and technology leadership teams.
  • Influence organization-wide engineering strategy, standards, roadmaps, and technology adoption.
