Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is dedicated to protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage nursing care for a group of patients, considering safety, effectiveness, and cost.
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
  • Administer medications safely as per UHS Hospitals policy.
  • Contribute to productivity and effective resource utilization.
  • Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
  • Pursue professional development and complete mandatory education.
  • Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
  • Support new employees and students' learning.
  • Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
  • Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6 months to 3 years of Nursing (RN) experience.
  • Collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational understanding and time management.
  • Commitment to quality, reliability, safety, and risk management.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Schedule

Work Hours: 4, 10-hour shifts (M-F) 7am - 5:30pm. Focus on Cardiothoracic surgery, with potential coverage for general surgery. Call Hours: 3 to 4 shifts per week, extending from the end of the worked shift until the start of the next scheduled shift, up to every other weekend.
