Unit Details

The CAT Team RN is a member of the multidisciplinary team that works to assess Behavioral Health patients across the AnMed system and to assist the Emergency Department and psychiatry providers to determine the appropriate plan of care. The CAT team is a group of Behavioral Health professionals who provide intake assessments and work with both internal and external sources to safely disposition these patients from the ED or medical unit.

Duties • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient needs utilizing the nursing process. • Actively participates in providing patient care as defined by multidisciplinary plan of care. • Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients with diverse cultural backgrounds as well as varying ages pertinent to their assigned areas.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse with current license. A minimum of two years of experience in a mental health setting with strong mental health assessment skills and crisis management skills required. Excellent communication skills, knowledgeable regarding community resources, and ability to work in a collaborative team approach required.

RN ADN candidates must be enrolled in a BSN program within 18 months from date of hire and are required to obtain BSN within four (4) years of date of hire. Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.

Capacity to work independently, to accept supervision and work cooperatively in a team environment. Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner. Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation, and foot traffic. Ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another.

AnMed Associate Degree Nurses (ADN) who were hired as RNs prior to January 1, 2013, and continue to work as an acute care Staff Nurse since that date, were grandfathered and the requirement to obtain BSN within four (4) years does not apply.
