Job Title: Staff Member In Charge at Mangrove Bay Middle SchoolDescription: Staff Member In Charge (SMIC) provides a safe, fun and educational environment for all Mangrove Bay Middle School participants. Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures in the absence of the Site Coordinator.Job Duties:Plans weekly program of activities that include implementation of YMCA CurriculumAssists with direct supervision of all staff in center which includes daily guidanceUses appropriate effective discipline and direct management of all children according to written policyAssures activities are safe and fun for children and actively facilitates the activities with childrenEstablishes positive rapport with parents, staff, school faculty and school PrincipalMaintains all school and YMCA equipment, supplies and inventoriesAssists with maintenance of records and data on each child and each employeeAssists with collection of fees, implementation of site budgetAttends all staff meetings and training sessionsMaintains cleanliness of school and YMCA facilities, keeping centers organized and usableKnows the YMCA mission statement and program philosophiesEffectively handles all emergency incidents that occur in YMCA program, using mature sound judgmentMaintains YMCA standards for Middle School programsSupport YMCA and grant contract policies and proceduresPromotes and market ALL YMCA programs, encourages family participationBuilds relationships while working with program participants, staff and volunteersAttends required abuse risk management training.Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.Follows mandated YMCA abuse reporting requirements.Qualifications:High school diploma or GED required.Minimum 6 months experience in a before or after school setting.Must be at least 18 years of age.First Aid, CPR & AED required.Prefer knowledge of sports and children's programming.Strong communication, supervisory and organizational skills.Ability to multi-task, general record keeping skills and must be capable of resolving conflict.Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week from 6:45am-9:15am + 3:45pm-6:00pm. Consistent afternoon schedules & weekends off.Pay & Perks: Part-time, $15/hour, depending on experience. FREE YMCA membership for employee and discount for family.
