    Overview
    System One is seeking a Staff Engineering Technician-Water for a full-time position in Charlotte, NC. This opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Government & Communities Market Sector, supporting Water & Industrial Water projects and building critical infrastructure for todays and tomorrows challenges. Civil professionals contribute to site development efforts, including grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities.
    The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying site development plans using industry standard design tools, such as Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.

    Responsibilities

    • Support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables for water and industrial water infrastructure projects.
    • Use industry-standard design tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation to create and modify site development plans.
    • Perform technical tasks with intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices under general supervision.
    • Assist in site development efforts including grading, drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities.
    • Support field activities and coordinate with other design personnel to exchange project information.
    • Review design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and policies.
    • Apply judgment and decision-making related to design deliverables and input interpretation.
    • Perform design calculations, develop material quantities and estimates, and record technical details.
    • Proactively seek and share knowledge of latest technologies and processes to improve project quality.
    Requirements
    • Minimum of 5 years related work experience in civil or engineering technician roles.
    • Experience with Civil 3D grading required.
    • Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology preferred; Diploma or Certificate required.
    • Ability to support development of high-quality engineering deliverables and maintain technical documentation.
    • Proficiency with CAD, BIM, 3D modeling tools.
    • Strong understanding of standards, codes, and departmental procedures.
    • Ability to review project requirements and deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
    • Candidate must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding, including background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search.
