Summary
The Staff Engineer, Software develops, debugs, tests, deploys and supports code to be deployed in systems/products/equipment for various applications. They write, debug, maintain, and test software in various common languages and for software at various levels in the hierarchy (from Firmware to Application). Software creation follows an agreed to development process (such as Agile, Scrum, etc.) and complies with the product life cycle development (phase/gate deliverables).
The Staff Engineer, Software works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.
In this role, the Senior Lead Engineer leads diagnostic software development for Celesticas high-performance networking switch platforms, specifying and developing diagnostic applications that make sure platforms are up and running, meeting product requirements, and delivered at the highest possible quality, in close partnership with BSP, SDK, hardware and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for diagnostic software development. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
Specify and develop diagnostic applications that verify platforms are up and running, meet product requirements, and are delivered at the highest possible quality.
Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go-to person) in diagnostics or other platform technical areas.
Review, interpret and may negotiate customer requirements/specifications, design diagnostic software, provide customer feedback, and ensure quality of deliverables.
Lead the deployment of strategic programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
Participate in managing relationships with key vendors/partners/customers.
Develop diagnostic coverage for various devices on high-performance networking platforms (Ethernet, I2C, PCIe, SPI, USB, NAND) to validate functionality and isolate faults.
Work closely with hardware engineers on board bring-up and with manufacturing teams to support product qualification through diagnostics packages.
Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites.
Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, users, project managers and other engineers, including Peer-Reviews, to achieve elegant solutions.
Required Qualifications
Solid understanding and experience in specifying and developing diagnostic applications.
Strong programming skills in Python, with working knowledge of C/C++.
Experience in software design under Linux; familiar with Linux commands and Git.
Understanding of low-level hardware interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, PCIe, SPI, USB, and NAND.
Outstanding software debugging skills; experience using hardware test equipment such as JTAG debuggers and I2C analyzers is a plus.
Experience working with cross functional teams including hardware engineering and manufacturing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, multitasking, and organizational skills.
Project Management - Ability to lead engineering projects that may involve other functions, with solid understanding of the technical, schedule and people aspects of the project. Able to recognize project barriers and develop mitigation plans.

Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with main elements of CPU, DPU, memory, NICs
Experience in designing and developing low level software to enable Data Center hardware
Prior experience GPU libraries like CUDA and ROCm is a plus
